What's New
Keep up with the latest features and improvements in Myndarin.
Version 2.6
January 2026See exactly where you are in your learning journey.
Click any module in your Learning Journey to see all its lessons at a glance. Each lesson shows its status — completed, in progress, available, or locked — so you always know where you stand.
Lessons you've completed show a green checkmark. Your current lesson is highlighted. Locked lessons show what's coming next.
When we add new lessons to the curriculum, you'll see a "New" badge so you know what's been added since you started. If you've jumped ahead and missed a lesson, a "Skipped" badge helps you spot the gaps.
Want to revisit an earlier lesson you skipped? Now you can click on it, complete it, and automatically return to where you were. No more manually navigating back to your current position.
Version 2.5
January 2026Sharing what we've learned about learning Chinese.
We've launched a blog to share insights about learning Chinese characters. Our first post, "Why Can't I Remember Chinese Characters?", explores why traditional learning methods often fail and introduces the mnemonic techniques that actually work.
Expect more posts on learning strategies, the science of memory, and tips for making the most of your study time.
We've added structured data markup across the site so AI search engines can better understand and recommend Myndarin. When you ask an AI assistant about learning Chinese characters, it's now more likely to know about us.
Version 2.4
January 7, 2026A more personal introduction to Myndarin and the method behind it.
Before diving into your first character, a new introductory lesson explains the core concepts you'll be using. You'll learn:
- The difference between Hanzi (characters) and Pinyin (pronunciation)
- Why actors, sets, rooms, and props make characters memorable
- When to use real vs. fictional elements in your memory palace
- Why indoor locations with distinct rooms work best
This foundation makes everything that follows easier to understand.
The homepage now introduces you to Lee, the founder of Myndarin. Instead of generic marketing speak, you'll hear the real story: months of failing with Duolingo and Anki, the discovery of memory techniques that actually worked, and why this app exists. If you've ever felt frustrated by traditional learning methods, you'll know you're in the right place.
Myndarin was built by someone who's autistic and probably ADHD. That experience shapes everything about the app: self-paced learning, no pressure, no streaks to maintain, no gamification that makes you feel guilty. If your brain works differently, you'll feel the difference.
Version 2.3
December 30, 2025Hear how characters sound and enjoy a fresh new look.
You can now listen to native Chinese pronunciation for any character. Tap the speaker icon on flashcards, card details, or during lessons to hear the correct pronunciation.
On the card detail page, press P on your keyboard for quick playback.
Myndarin has a fresh new look! The new logo represents the memory palace concept at the heart of the Myndarin method — interconnected rooms where your character memories live.
Version 2.2
December 22, 2025Better feedback on your progress and a more polished learning experience.
After completing a review session, you'll now see stats that actually help you understand your progress. Instead of a misleading "accuracy" percentage, we now show:
- Items Reviewed — total cards you studied
- Confident — items you knew well (rated Good or Easy)
- Still Learning — items needing more practice (rated Again or Hard)
This gives you actionable insight into what needs more attention.
We fixed a visual glitch where content would flash briefly when advancing to the next card. The review experience is now smoother with proper animation timing.
A new feedback survey lets you share what you think about Myndarin. Your input helps us prioritize features and make the app better for everyone. It takes about 2 minutes and we read every response.
Version 2.1
December 20, 2025Easier navigation and better accessibility for all users.
We renamed navigation items to make it clearer where each link takes you:
- Home — your dashboard with overview and progress
- Learn — continue your learning journey or do reviews
Navigation is also now visible at all times, so you always know where you are.
Added a skip-to-content link for keyboard users, making it faster to navigate without a mouse. This improvement follows web accessibility guidelines and helps users who rely on assistive technology.
Version 2.0
December 19, 2025A complete learning system with guided lessons and spaced repetition.
A structured 10-lesson curriculum takes you from the basics to confident character reading. Each lesson builds on the last, introducing new actors, sets, rooms, and props that you'll use to create memorable movie scenes for each character.
No more wondering what to learn next — just follow the path.
After each lesson, you'll immediately review what you learned. This locks in your memory while everything is fresh. Then, our smart scheduling system (based on the proven SM-2 algorithm) brings cards back at optimal intervals.
There's also a daily review feature that shows you all cards that are due across your entire learning journey — just a few minutes a day keeps everything fresh.
Each element type in the Myndarin method now has its own color scheme: actors, sets, rooms, props, and scenes are all visually distinct. This makes it easier to understand what you're learning at each step and provides clearer feedback as you progress through lessons.
The dashboard has been simplified to show just what matters: your active lessons and progress. Less clutter means more focus on learning.
